Kindergarten

Mrs. Vazquez

Mrs. Vazquez has been teaching for the LBUSD for 24 years. She taught kindergarten, first grade multi-age, pre-kinder-kinder, and first grade. The last 15 years she has been teaching kindergarten Dual Immersion at Webster. Being a Dual Immersion teacher gives her the opportunity to provide a quality bilingual education to all her students. They gain grade level academic ability, well -developed language and literacy skills in both English and Spanish.

When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and reading books in her backyard.

Miss Santillan

CSULB, Psychology BA - CSULB, Teaching Credential - GCU, M.A 

Miss Santillan has taught Kindergarten at Webster for 2 years. This is Miss Santillan’s first year teaching Dual Immersion. Miss Santillan is passionate about teaching DI Kindergarten because of the fulfilling feeling that comes with teaching a child to read in both Spanish and English. Miss Santillan believes that Webster’s Dual Immersion program provides students with a greater appreciation and respect for other cultures and languages. Miss Santillan is passionate about teaching because it allows her to change the world one child at a time. During her free time, Miss Santillan enjoys traveling, watching movies, trying new restaurant, and spending time with loved ones.

1st Grade

Ms. Vargas

Ms. Vargas currently teaches 1st grade at Webster and absolutely loves it! Students in her class continue developing the Spanish language while advancing their English as well! Ms. Vargas' students experience a highly engaging and rewarding curriculum. All students are practicing their speaking and listening skills as well as learning how to write descriptive paragraphs!

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Gastelum

Mrs. Gastelum has taught various grades in our district, including kindergarten, 1st and 4th grade. She enjoys teaching first grade in which students learn the foundational skills for reading. She shares her love of reading with her students and shares that books are treasures waiting to be discovered. Mrs. Gastelum takes student interests into account to make her lessons more engaging and relevant to her students. She believes that the Dual Immersion program is a phenomenal program that enables students to be bilingual and biliterate which will be a great asset to their future. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies and visiting the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland!

2nd grade

Mrs. Alonso

CSUF: BS and Teaching Credential

Mrs. Alonso has taught for over 18 years in a Dual Language Immersion program. She has taught mainly in third grade but has also taught second and first grade. She began teaching at Willard Elementary School and is now at Webster Elementary, both of which are dual immersion program schools. Mrs. Alonso is truly dedicated to teaching in two languages. She believes in the power of being bilingual, biliterate, and the interaction between cultures. In her leisure, Mrs. Alonso enjoys reading, spending time with family, and traveling.

 

3rd Grade

Mrs. Gonsalves

Mrs. Gonsalves considers herself very lucky to be in the Dual Immersion Program at Webster Elementary.  She has been at Webster for 22 years and has taught third through fifth grade.  This school year, she is teaching third grade and is excited to see her students’ academic growth in both English and Spanish.  Mrs. Gonsalves believes that being in the dual language program and learning a new language is far more than just acquiring new vocabulary.  This program  gives students a better understanding of a new culture and global citizenship.    When she is away from Webster, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, tending to her garden and traveling. 

4th Grade

Miss Pritchett

Miss Pritchett is an enthusiastic 4th-grade teacher who's passionate about the benefits that bilingualism and biliteracy can bring to her students in the long run. This love for bilingualism was reinforced when she lived and taught English in Spain.

In her personal life, she enjoys the outdoors, loves animals, especially dogs (of which she has 3), and eating popcorn.  Her favorite subject to teach is math, and she is committed to providing her students a supportive, enriching, and engaging learning environment.

 

5th Grade

Mr. Alfaro

UCLA, BA - CSULB, Teaching Credential - CSUF, M.S. in Educational Technology

Mr. Alfaro has taught for over three years at different levels of education. Before arriving at Webster, he was a middle school teacher at Duarte Unified where he taught English, Social Science, and Video Production. Previously, Mr. Alfaro taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at Downey Adult School. Mr. Alfaro loves to teach 5th grade where his students are fully immersed in a technology rich environment. His students not only meet academic standards but also gain the 21st century skills they will need to succeed. As a Dual Immersion teacher, he believes his students will gain further critical thinking skills and a better preparedness for future endeavors.  In his free time, Mr. Alfaro is camping, traveling, and watching his favorite team Real Madrid.
